Aside from her remarkable performance in her debut movie she will also always be remembered by her performance in the Romanian Arts Film 4 months three weeks and two days which earned her many distinctions including the European Film Award of Best Actress from the London Film Critics. She starred in the Romanian film 4 luni 3 weeks si 2 zile (4 Months 3 Weeks and 2 Days) directed by Cristian Mungiu. The film won the Palme d'Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and two additional awards (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System and the FIPRESCI prize). Also, she was in the Francis Ford Coppola film Youth Without Youth. She also played Yasim Awar in the BBC's 5 episode The Last Enemy miniseries. Marinca performed as Yasim in Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven, as well as Boogie, the Romanian Drama Boogie. She then had a major role in 2014's Fury which featured her as Irma who was the German maternal aunt to Emma.
